What is educational audiology?

Educational audiology is the application of audiological information from the clinical setting to the child’s educational placement in order to optimize the child’s academic, linguistic and social emotional development in the classroom.

Educational audiologists work with students, classmates, educators, support personnel, administrators and parents to ensure that students’ needs in the areas of inservice, classroom acoustics, amplification, auditory programming and classroom management are addressed.   Educational audiologists also consult with manufacturers regarding design and application of FM technology in the home and school.
