Auditory Management Services (AMS) was established in 1986 as a private practice specializing in educational audiology services to school boards across southwestern Ontario. It was the first private practice in educational audiology in Canada. Carolyne Edwards, President, has offered school based audiology services for over thirty five years, and was one of the first educational audiologists in the country. AMS has four educational audiologists on staff and currently offers contractual services to twelve school boards in southwestern Ontario, in addition to consultations on request.
AMS contracts with school boards for a specified number of days per month currently ranging from one to twelve days per month. The number of days per month is based on the number of children served, the needs of the system, the other support personnel available to provide service to children with listening difficulties and the budget allotted for audiological services. The recommended number of days per month for a board of education is determined after reviewing overall needs with school staff.
AMS also hosts annual conferences on topics of currrent interest in pediatric and educational audiology.
